Christian Kane Biography
Born in Dallas, Texas, Christian Kane's family moved often, as those in the oil business often do, before settling in the small town of Norman, Okalahoma. Always into films and music, in college the dream and lure of a career in the entertainment business grew too strong. Christian set off for Los Angeles.
In California, Christian landed a job as an assistant at an entertainment company by telling them he would deliver scripts if they would just submit him for projects too. He quickly went from employee to client when he landed his first big job acting and singing as the lead in MGM's television series FAME L.A. . The show, based on the hit movie and television series, originally cast Christian as a comedian. After hearing Christian sing, they rewrote the role for him to be a singer.
Around that time, Christian met songwriting partner, Steve Carlson. Together they founded the band KANE. Packing such hot spots as The Viper Room and The Mint, Christian and Steve became well known in the L.A. community for their strong original songwriting and awesome high-energy performance on stage. Christian's unique country vocals distinguished KANE. His stage presence and his ability to the hold the audience in the palm of his hand has always been one of the keys to his success.
The band was soon receiving airplay from L.A. country radio, being voted the winner of the Country Thunder Young Guns Contest, and playing numerous sold out shows in L.A. Not content to stay an L.A. phenomenon, the two began taking regular trips to Nashville to polish their writing chops. In Nashville they collaborated with some of the best songwriters in the world. Repeated visits led to Christian Kane signing a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing and later to a full blown record deal.
Newly signed to Columbia Records Nashville, Christian Kane is working with producer Jimmie Lee Sloas on a major label debut. Christian still writes much of his own material and has co-written with hit songwriters such as Blair Daly, Brett James, David Lee Murphy, Casey Beathard, Jerrod Niemann, and others to make this record a huge success. The single MORE THAN I DESERVE, written by Christian Kane, Steve Carlson and Jeremy Stover goes to country radio late summer with the debut album in stores everywhere to follow.
Christian has had success not only with his music, but with numerous film and television roles as well. He will co-star with Timothy Hutton in the TNT series LEVERAGE, created by Dean Devlin, in Fall 2008. Christian also recently co-starred in the Jerry Bruckheimer produced weekly drama series CLOSE TO HOME on CBS. Christian was seen in the Stephen Spielberg/TNT miniseries INTO THE WEST. In addition to a few recently completed independent films, Kane’s most recent appearances on the big screen are in Fox's film TAXI opposite Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon and the Peter Berg directed FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. He was also seen in Fox's JUST MARRIED (which opened at #1) where he starred with Ashton Kutcher and Brittany Murphy and on television as the lead in “The Crooked E” for CBS. Kane’s other work includes the Fox feature film LIFE OR SOMETHING LIKE IT opposite Angelina Jolie for director Stephen Herek, SECONDHAND LIONS for writer/director Tim McCanlies where he played a young Robert Duvall, the indie features KEEP YOUR DISTANCE and HER MINOR THING (alongside Estella Warren) and the Warner Bros. baseball film SUMMER CATCH.
In a role that has given him worldwide exposure, Christian starred as Lindsey McDonald in a major recurring role on the WB television series ANGEL. His other film and TV credits include the films CROSSFIRE TRAIL (with Tom Selleck) and EDTV, DAWSON'S CREEK, the independent film BROKEN HEARTS CLUB and the MTV Original film entitled LOVE SONG. In LOVE SONG he played a blues guitarist/ singer opposite co-star Monica. Last year Christian Kane fans were thrilled by his appearance in 24: THE GAME where he plays a computer-generated antagonist challenging Kiefer Sutherland to stop his dastardly plan.
