Azure Noir Biography
Azure Noir is trip hop, ambient and down-tempo with mixed influences ranging from Portishead, Birthday Massacre and Massive Attack to J Dilla, Little Brother, Velure, Zero 7, MF Doom and Al Green. Formed by composer King and vocalist Morguen Merlot, the duet has worked together to create what they call a soundscape for life.
Azure Noir, based in Las Vegas, NV, was formed in 2007 by former emcee/producer King (Las Vegas) and Morguen Merlot, the former lead singer of In Winter (Cleveland). In Winter became one of the top bands in Cleveland, OH. Headlining most venues, In Winter also opened for bands such as The Birthday Massacre, The Genitorturers, Wednesday 13, Lennon and many more. In Winter also had regular airplay on Cleveland's local radio station. King has a foundation built on nearly 10 years of formal music training as well as getting a start early on with a short lived hip-hop trio from Michigan. After relocating to Portland, OR and embarking on a solo venture, including exposure on local radio and opening gigs for acts in Portland, as well as appearances at the local freestyle showcase Thorn City Improv, relocation to Las Vegas brought him into contact with Morguen Merlot.
..Being lost in a song is why I listen to music, especially this genre of trip-hop/ambient...I, for one, don't want to wake up from this dream...
